Welcome to the week seven edition of 'The Lo Down' which is being brought to you all the way from the windy city, Chicago, Illinois. With that in mind I also will be rocking and old school blog with no thrills and spills just plain old fashioned text. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.
This week saw Peyton Manning going up against the next big quarterback Andrew Luck. When I saw this match up on paper I honestly thought that it would be very much like Star Wars Episode episode three with the apprentice not being able to overcome the master. In actuality what we saw was more like Star Wars episode four with the apprentice becoming the master.
The first quarter started in the usual fashion with Denver taking a 7 - 0 lead. The next ten points were scored by the Colts but Peyton Manning answered back with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Julius Thomas. After this score from the Broncos however it would be the Colts who would take control of the game. The Colts defence managed to force three turnovers during the game and even forced a fumble from Peyton Manning which went for a safety.
The Colts went on to score 23 unanswered points and with that the game was pretty much done and dusted. The Broncos had a brief comeback in the fourth quarter but the spoils went to Andrew Luck and the Indianpolis Colts as they won 39 - 33.
Denver move to a 6 - 1 record and left just one undefeated team in the NFL, the question is, would Kansas beat Houston and remain unbeaten? Let's find out!
The Texans were without their starting quarterback this week, surely it would be a walk in the park for the Chiefs to come out victorious! Personally before the game, those that listen to the podcast will know I had the Chiefs winning this one by a decent margin as the Texans have not been playing great football lately.
As always with the NFL this season, the Texans decided to make me look like an idiot by making this game a lot closer, it was as they say in a bad dutch accent 'tight like tiger'. The final score in this one was 17 - 16 to Kansas City and here are a few things that I took from this game:
1. Jamaal Charles had another great game with 123 total yards and a touchdown.
2. Brian Cushing left the game injured.
3. Arian Foster left the game injured.
Kansas City are now the only remaining perfect team at 7 - 0 and the question as always is, can they go 16 - 0?
As I am in Chicago this week it would be rude of me not to talk about the Chicago Bears game as they took on the Washington Redskins in Landover, Maryland. Chicago had some good news before the game as Charles 'Peanut' Tillman was declared fit to play after missing last weeks game against the New York Giants.
Again rather than boring you with a play by play from this game here is a few key things I took from this game:
1. Matt Forte continues to show improving form with 90+ yards and three touchdowns.
2. Jay Cutler left the game with a groin injury and could be out for a few weeks.
3. Can the Bears push the playoffs if Cutler misses more than two games?
4. The game saw a total of 86 points on the scoreboard.
5. RG3 showed a possible return to form with 11 rushes for 80+ yards.
Much to mine and the Bears fans surprise it was the Redskins who came out on top in this one winning 45 - 41. I strongly recommend you check out the highlights if you get a chance. Let's now take a look at all the scores from week seven:
Seattle 34 vs 22 Arizona
Denver 33 vs 39 Indianpolis
Cleveland 13 vs 31 Green Bay
Houston 16 vs 17 Kansas City
Baltimore 16 vs 19 Pittsburgh
San Francisco 31 vs 17 Tennessee
Tampa Bay 23 vs 31 Atlanta
Cincinnati 27 vs 24 Detroit
Buffalo 23 vs 21 Miami
New England 27 vs 30 New York Jets
Dallas 17 vs 3 Philadelphia
Chicago 41 vs 45 Washington
St Louis 15 vs 30 Carolina
San Diego 24 vs 6 Jacksonville
To Be Played
Minnesota vs New York Giants
Thinking of the New York Giants, this is possibly the best chance Eli Manning has of breaking their six game loosing streak as they face off against the Vikings. Although having said that I am just reading that Josh Freeman will get his first start for Minnesota tonight and it may be a lot closer than I originally expected!
Well that wraps it up from me this week as I have a lot more of Chicago to see and very little time to do it. Until next time football fans be sure to check out the podcast later in the week, stay safe and 'Thanks for Stopping By'.
