In a weekend that has seen some major shocks in the college football world, the NFL did not want to be left behind with Arizona, Jacksonville and Cleveland all giving their respective opponents a run for their money!
For those who do not follow college football, this week saw the number one ranked Kansas State and the number two ranked Oregon lose to much weaker opposition. On a plus note being a fighting irish fan, I was very happy that Notre Dame won taking them to 11 - 0 and the number one rank in the country.

Okay so back to the NFL action and the match between Houston and Jacksonville. Jacksonville started the match slowly however when their starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert got injured it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Their back up quarterback Chad Henne was able to stir some life into the offense. Despite going behind by a touchdown in the first quarter the Jaguars managed to score two unanswered touchdowns before Houston levelled the game. They then exchanged field goals in the second quarter making the halftime score 17 all.
This game went on to be one of the games of the week as the second half saw a huge amount of scoring resulting in overtime. After some swings back and forth in overtime the Texans managed to sneak the win 43 - 37. If I am honest the action was too good to describe and so it would be better if you check out the highlights below:
There was also another great game in Texas on Sunday and that was the Dallas Cowboys versus the Cleveland Browns. Before the game started I was reminded by Scott Hanson on NFL redzone that Tony Romo has not lost a home game in the month of November. I was quite surprised by this and think it is a great record especially for someone who is not considered an elite quarterback and also was not drafted in 2003 when he made himself eligible!
The cowboys get left behind from the opening kick off as they did not score at all in the first half whilst the Browns went on to score thirteen points. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in their dressing room at half time to see what their head coach said to them. Whatever was said it seemed to work as the second half was all Dallas with them outscoring Cleveland 20 points to 7. At the end of four quarters the game was tied and become another game this week which was settled in overtime by a Dan Bailey field goal. The cowboys were very lucky to escape with a victory this week and it remains to be seen if Tony Romo may be playing his last season in Dallas.

MEgatron award week eleven
This week there were so many great offensive performances it was really hard for me to pick a winner, even the great Megatron had another great week for the Lions with five receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown. Calvin Johnson was not the only receiver to have a great week as Andre Johnson caught 14 passes for 273 and a touchdown which won the game in overtime.
After going back through all of the games it is my pleasure to give this weeks award to someone who is not even a starting quarterback. This week my Megatron award winner is Chad Henne of the Jacksonville Jaguars. There is no doubt in my mind the match against the Texans would have been nothing but a blow out if Gabbert had not been injured! Chad threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns and despite being on the losing side, he gave Jacksonville a great shot at the win. What a way to impact a game by coming off the bench and putting on that performance, well done Mr Henne on your achievement!
Ray lewis award week eleven
Just like the offensive players there were some great displays on defence this week. He may not be the award winner this week but Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers had five and half sacks against the Chicago Bears. This is a great achievement but as I have said before the award is for impact and not the best stats.
This week my Ray Lewis award goes to a man who made mincemeat of the San Diego offensive line on his way to six tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles. My award this week goes to Von Miller of the Denver Broncos, I believe his performance inspired the defence to make the most of their opportunities and by putting that much pressure on Rivers, he really disturbed his game. Congratulations Von Miller on your achievement.
Well that is all I have time for this week football fans and so until next week take care, stay safe and enjoy the week twelve action.
