Outstanding, Amazing and Mesmerising are just three of the many superlatives you could use to describe Adrian Peterson!
As I was watching NFL redzone on Sunday it kept jumping to the Vikings vs Rams game to show you every one of Peterson's big rushes. I remember being sat there watching in awe on first and ten as he broke the line of scrimmage and accelerated away to score on an 82 yard run.
The smile accross my face could only be likened to that of a cheshire cat who just got the cream! It has to be said that during this season he never ceases to amaze me! To see what I am talking about please check out the above mentioned touchdown run by clicking on the picture below:

Thanks to Adrian Peterson this game ended up being a very one sided affair and it keeps Minnesota's playoff hopes alive. They have now moved to a record of 8-6 and they are sitting second in the NFC North behind Green Bay!
Thinking of Green Bay, they had a tough divisional match up against the Chicago Bears this week. It started off as a game filled with defence as both sides failed to move the ball effectively until halfway through the second quarter. It was at this point that the Bears broke the deadlock with a 15 yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler to Brandon Marshall. We then had a brief spell of offense as the Packers went on to score two touchdowns before half time courtsey of James Jones. After the half time break Jones scored his hat trick of touchdown receptions before the defences dominated again. Although the Bears managed to score on two field goals it wasn't enough as the game finished 21-13 in favour of Green Bay.
Okay so I am going to take a break away from the games themselves for a short while to share some amazing catches which caught my eye this week! Lets start with the beautiful one handed catch by Stevie Johnson against the Seahawks pictured on the left. Another catch that got my attention was a Randall Cobb catch along the sideline. If you want to watch these catches along with the other top five catches then please click on the picture of Stevie above!
Right, now let's get back to the week 15 matches starting with the potential preview for this years superbowl between the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. For anyone who did not see this game, you missed an unbelievable match that showcased both teams talent on both sides of the ball!
I have to confess that I did not stay up for this late night match up on Sunday however I have now caught up on the highlights and have simply been blown away. To cut a long story short by midway through the third quarter the Patriots were 31-3 down and somehow they managed to bring the game back to 31 all with about seven minutes left in the game. At this point you would think the Patriots were about to pull off the comeback of all comebacks however the 49ers were able to dig deep and score 10 more unanswered points before stopping the Brady machine complete the come from behind win. The final score was 41-34 to San Francisco and I think you should all check out the highlights by clicking on the Randy Moss picture below:

As you can see there was also three shut outs this week and for me the most surprising of them all was Atlanta shutting out the New York Giants. Eli Manning had seemed to be finding some of his superbowl winning form and last season the Giants destroyed the Falcons in one of the NFC wild card playoff matches. This weekend the Falcons managed to exact revenge as they well and truly man handled the Giants and caused a major blow to the Giants playoff hopes!
Following their victory the Falcons are still the number one team in the NFC but things below them have been given a little shake up! The 49ers are still in the number two spot after their win and Green Bay have won the NFC North after they beat Chicago to stay at number three. The fourth spot and new leaders of the NFC East are the Washington Redskins whilst the Seattle Seahawks move up to fifth. Finally the Minnesota Vikings are in sixth place above the Chicago Bears due to their superior divisional record in the NFC North.
In the AFC the Texans are moving ever closer to home field advantage and their win this week against the Colts also gives them the AFC South title. With their win and New England's loss the Broncos are now number two and the Patriots are number three. The Ravens hold onto the fourth spot because they are leading the AFC North. Indianapolis remain fifth and Cincinnati have now moved into the last playoff spot with their win and the Steelers loss.
Okay so that raps up the write up, however please check out 'Spitball' my weekly podcast when it is uploaded on Wednesday night. Until then football fans stay safe and take care.
